  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs (beaten)
  • 1.5 cups plain breadcrumbs
  • 1.5 tsp garlic powder (divided)
  • 2.5 tsp dried Italian seasoning (divided)
  • 1.5 tsp salt (divided)
  • Oil for frying
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Drain and pat dry the bocconcini to remove excess moisture.
  2. Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with flour mixed with 0.5 tsp salt and 0.5 tsp Italian seasoning; one with beaten eggs; and one with breadcrumbs mixed with 2 tsp Italian seasoning, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 1 tsp salt.
  3. Roll mozzarella balls in flour, dip them in egg, then coat in breadcrumbs; repeat for extra crunch.
  4. Freeze coated mozzarella balls on a parchment-lined sheet pan for at least 1-2 hours.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the frozen balls in small batches until golden brown (about 60–90 seconds).
