  • 8 oz elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese (cut into ghost shapes)
  • Black sesame seeds or peppercorns (for eyes)
  • Olive oil or butter (for greasing dish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the elbow macaroni in salted water until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and Parmesan until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Combine the pasta with the cheese sauce, ensuring all noodles are coated evenly.
  6. Grease a baking dish and spread the mac & cheese mixture evenly inside.
  7. Top with ghost-shaped mozzarella slices and use black sesame seeds or peppercorns for spooky eyes.
  8. Bake at 375°F for about 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
