  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls
  • 1 demi baguette
  • ½ cup basil pesto
  • gel food coloring (black)
  • 12 ounces cherry tomatoes
  • olive oil
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • red pepper flakes
  • fresh basil for garnish
  • balsamic vinegar glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Fill a silicone skull mold with mozzarella pearls and bake for 6 to 7 minutes until melted.
  3. Increase oven temperature to 475°F; roast halved cherry tomatoes drizzled with olive oil and seasonings for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Toast sliced baguette on another baking sheet for about 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. Mix basil pesto with black food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  6. Spread black pesto on toasted baguette slices and return to the oven for an additional 8 to 10 minutes.
  7. Top each slice with roasted tomatoes and cooled mozzarella skulls, then drizzle with balsamic glaze.
