  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2¼ cups all purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cups mini semisweet chocolate chips (plus more for melting (optional))
  • ⅓ cup Halloween sprinkles (divided)

Instructions

  1. Cream room temperature butter and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  2. Mix in vanilla extract and egg yolk until well combined.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt until just combined; fold in mini chocolate chips and most of the sprinkles.
  4. For slice-and-bake: Shape dough into a log, wrap in plastic, and chill for 2 hours; slice and bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.
  5. For cut-out cookies: Roll out dough on floured parchment paper, cut shapes, chill for 20 minutes, then bake as above.
