Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple vinegar (or dry apple juice)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional for sweetness)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, apple vinegar, cornstarch, and optional baking soda. Add the flank steak and marinate for about 15 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir-fry the sliced onions until translucent (3-4 minutes), then add garlic and ginger for an additional 30 seconds.
  3. Push the onions aside and add the marinated beef to the pan. Stir-fry until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes). Optionally drizzle hoisin sauce over beef in the last minute.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving hot over rice or noodles.
