Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually stir in ice water, shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Transfer to the pan and prick the bottom.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and eggs until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract, then fold in pecans and chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the filling into the prepared crust and bake for 50-60 minutes or until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
  6. Cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing.
